The Millbrook Chippy

Really high quality food. Since the new owners have taken over the freshness and meal quality has gone from good to exceptional. Unlike most chippies these days, the food is never old, overcooked or greasy. It’s perfect and freshly prepared. Never had any issues and tonight was another great meal. Delicious chips served with a perfect battered sausage. Fishcakes are great too. Our favorite Millbrook chippy. Not open all hours, which is a shame, but I would not swap such great chips for more opening times. Parking is free and if you are lucky there a space not far from the shop.

I have used Millbrook Chippy for years with the previous owners and would not go anywhere else for fish supper. When they first sold the business to the new owners I wasn’t impressed with the food and stopped using it. BUT, my daughter had fish and chips last week and said I should give them another try. Last night I did and the food was amazing. The staff were friendly and the shop was clean and inviting. Nice crispy batter and juicy fish. Beautifully cooked chips and all cooked fresh. I will happily wait for freshly cooked food when it is as good as that. I also thought that the pricing was reasonable. I am so pleased that once again I can buy takeaway fish and chips that I know I will enjoy.

I've eaten here a couple of times recently, and each time I've had a positive experience. Staff are friendly and attentive. The fish is a lovely texture and it's so moreish. Gave the chicken and mushroom pie a try last week and it was amazing, I would highly recommend. Will definitely be eating here on a regular!

Please note: I came here on a Friday night, and it was busy... Be prepared to wait.... 20-30 minutes. In fairness, they told us it would be a wait and we accepted that. Actually it took 40 minutes, but the food was great, freshly cooked and tasty. It was worth the wait, but when you are hungry, time seemed to stand still. It was busy.. our order was messed up, but was quickly sorted out, without any fuss. Service, I dropped 1 star, because the order was messed up.. but it was sorted quickly. Atmosphere.. it's a chip shop.. it's busy and people waiting for food. But it was calm, and no pressure from customers, so is clearly something the locals are used to. Overall, I was very happy with the experience and next time I am in the area, I will visit again.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a team of incredibly friendly staff members who went above and beyond to ensure exceptional customer service. The star of the show- the fish and chips themselves. The fish batter was absolutely flawless, achieving the ideal balance of crispy and light. It was truly the best fish and chips I have had in quite some time. Additionally, the shop was spotless maintaining high standards of hygiene. Overall, I highly recommend the Millbrook chippy for anyone seeking exceptional fish and chips.
